Associate Pastor of Discipleship and Leadership Development
Purpose:
The Associate Pastor of Discipleship and Leadership Development will serve as a key member
of the pastoral team at The Call Church, responsible for the cultivation of a healthy and growing
small group ministry and the equipping of leaders across multiple ministries. This role
emphasizes creating group systems, training leaders, fostering spiritual growth and assisting the
Lead Pastor in meeting the overall pastoral needs of the church.
Qualifications:
A professed commitment to Jesus Christ that is demonstrated through Christian growth
and is a model of spiritual leadership and lifestyle in ministry and family life.
Meets the qualifications of a pastor according to1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1: 5-9
A commitment to the pastors and staff, supporting the vision and philosophy of ministry
of The Call Church.(Connect, Grow, Serve, Reach, Worship)
Supports the ministry of The Call Church through regular prayer, financial giving, and
attendance of church events.
Must have strong communication and relationship skills with all age levels.
Agrees to the standards set in the The Call Church Staff and Volunteer Core Values.
Has a genuine love for people and demonstrates a pastor’s heart.
Possesses the attitude of a team player and also demonstrates a teachable spirit.
Key Responsibilities:
Discipleship and Small Group Leadership
1. Develop, oversee and expand the church’s small group ministry.
2. Recruit, train and coach small group leaders to lead healthy, disciple-making small
groups who multiply.
3. Provide regular pastoral care and support for all small group leaders to encourage
their personal spiritual health and development.
4. Establish systems of communication, accountability, and small group evaluation.
5. Approve Biblically accurate and relevant curriculum for small group leaders.

6. Oversee Sunday morning Discipleship Classes that promote Biblical understanding
and spiritual growth. This includes selecting and developing teaching materials for
new believers, spiritual disciplines, and essential theology.
Ministry Development and Leadership
1. Develop a process to identify and equip emerging leaders.
2. Provide training programs and coaching for current ministry leaders.
3. Provide regular pastoral care and support for all ministry leaders to encourage their
personal health and development.
4. Develop a clear process for starting new ministries within the church.
General Pastoral Responsibilities
1. In partnership with the Lead Pastor, assist with pastoral care, counseling, weddings,
funerals, home and hospital visitations.
2. Participate in staff meetings, planning sessions and church wide events and activities
3. Preach on Sunday mornings multiple times per year.
4. Personally lead a small group.
5. Be available for other church needs as they arise.
